Cory Boeker, LHP: Montello High School
Though Boeker attends a small school, he has done big things in Montello since a first-grader on the diamond, courts, and fields. He hit .441 overall and was named honorable mention all-state last year. He also was named all-conference in football, with eight interceptions for the Hilltoppers last fall. He has committed to Ripon College and will major in education.

David Casey, LHP/1B: Whitefish Bay High School
Casey hit a whopping .533 with 44 RBIs en route to being named first-team all-Summer State last year. Further, he went 11-4 on the mound the past two seasons, and played for Team Wisconsin and in the Milwaukee Brewers Classic as a junior. He committed to Notre Dame last fall. “I want to work hard and help them to win a College World Series,” he said.

Marcus Crump, 2B/RHP: Adams-Friendship High School
A four-year starter, Crump, a senior second baseman/right-handed pitcher for the Green Devils, hit .463 while posting a 1.62 ERA on the mound. Though his record was just 2-5, four of those losses were by one run and shaky defense behind him. On the gridiron, Crump was named the South Central Offensive Player of the Year.

Doug Dekoning, LHP/OF: Menomonee Falls High School
Dekoning was named to the first-team summer all-state as a junior after being named second-team all-state as a sophomore. A fine all around athlete who also is an all-conference defensive back in football and track star, Dekoning will make his mark in baseball. He has committed to UW-Milwaukee next fall, majoring in education. Menomenee Falls occupies the top spot in the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association’s preseason poll.

Jordan Erickson, OF/SS: Cumberland High School
Erickson, a gifted athlete who can play shortstop or the outfield, flirted with a .500 average all season in 2006 and was named honorable mention all-state last spring. A three-year starter at quarterback on the Beavers’ football team and a three-year starter at point guard on the Beavers’ basketball team, Erickson is a natural leader who has been the captain of every one of his teams. At press time, Erickson remained undecided on his collegiate future.

Tyler Graskewicz, RHP/C: Hudson High School
Graskewicz moved to Hudson, located near Wisconsin’s far western border, his junior year and immediately made an impact on the Raiders. He hit .634 and was named second-team all-state. He played for the Columbus Cobras last summer, going 10-1 on the mound with a 1.36 ERA. Also a four year letterman in basketball, he has signed to play baseball with Belmont University in Nashville starting next fall.

Jon Gulbransen, LHP/1B: Fox Valley Lutheran High School
Gulbransen said he was like many kids, swinging a big red plastic bat as a two-year-old, and the power and pop he displayed as a kid has followed him into high school. Boasting a career .398 average for the Foxes, Gulbransen hit .563 last summer for his Appleton American Legion team. An honor-roll student and National Honor Society member, Gilbertson (who also played football and basketball at Fox Valley) remains undecided for which college to play baseball, but continues to sort through several scholarship offers.

Paul Heinkel, C/IF: Winnebago Lutheran High School
Hitting .521 and slugging .729 as a junior, Heinkel was named second-team all-district and participated on the Wisconsin All- Stars team in the CABA tournament in Ohio last summer, where he also caught six of seven games, throwing out six-of-seven and hitting .375 while batting cleanup. Heinkel also boasts an overall GPA of 3.76 going into his final semester.

Phil Isaksson, LHP: Eau Claire North High School
The senior lefty has posted a 17-2 career record going into this spring’s season. Isacksson was named third-team all-state last spring and selected to play on Team Wisconsin. He picked up a win while pitching for the Huskies his sophomore season, and would love to get back to Appleton this spring. He was undecided as of this spring.

Collin Kuhn, SS: Beaver Dam High School
Kuhn settled in to the shortstop position in eighth grade and has steadily developed. Headed for the University of Arkansas next spring, Kuhn has aspirations to first win a Wisconsin Little 10 title and a state championship. He hopes to repeat last year’s first-team all-conference performance and garner all-state recognition this spring. Kuhn earned first-team all-conference honors for the Golden Beavers on the gridiron this past fall.

Jeff Kraschnewski, RHP/SS: Medford High School
He is dubbed “Krash” for of his Polish ethnicity and overpowering fastball. According to Medford head coach Justin Hraby, Kraschnewski’s fastball sits consistently in the low-to-mid 80s and a plus curveball. Kraschnewski, a junior, threw a no-hitter in his first varsity game as a sophomore and has shown no signs of letting down.

Kyle Nelson, RHP: Madison Memorial High School
Nelson has signed with Illinois State and eventually will be one of the ISU’s top pitchers. Memorial’s top pitcher exploded onto the Big Eight conference, grabbing six wins as a sophomore and continued that success into his junior season. Also an excellent basketball player, Nelson had a busy March helping the Spartans return to the state tournament. Nelson played for Team Wisconsin and in the Milwaukee Brewers Classic last year. Most experts expect Nelson to be considered for the MLB draft this June with a solid senior season.

John Perszyk, OF: Franklin High School
Perszyk burst onto the varsity scene as a junior, hitting .432 and slugging 10 homers in the Greater Metro, arguably Wisconsin’s best summer baseball conference. At 6-1 and 210 pounds, Perszyk has exceptional speed, timing in at 6.7 seconds in the 60-yard dash. The first-team all-state selection remains undecided on a college program at press time.

Nick Rice, LHP: Kenosha Tremper
Rice, is close to being the top prospect in the state and has signed a letter of intent to play for Southern Illinois. However, most experts believe Rice stands a legitimate shot at being selected in the MLB draft this summer. “He has command of three pitches and throws to types of fastballs, and has excellent mound presence,” said Tremper head coach John Matera.

Zach Rowles, 2B: Sun Prairie High School
Rowles will be a three-year starter on a Cardinal’s team that will be looking to three-peat as Division I state champions this spring. Playing primarily second base, Rowles was named third-team all-state last spring. Rowles is undecided on schools, but his has the talent to play Division I. “I think they’ll like what they see [this spring],” he said.

Jordan Rennicke, C: Mequon Homestead High School
Rennicke, a left-handed hitting catcher, will lead the fourth-ranked Highlanders into the summer season. Rennicke, a second-team all-state selection as a junior, will be joined by fellow first-team all-conference players Colin Smith, Ryan Lunde, and Mike Feirerstein. The Highlanders will push for the state title if the pitching staff is more consistent this year. With the experience returning behind the plate in Rennicke, there is as real good chance of that happening.

Cullen Sexton, RHP/SS: Stevens Point Area High School
Stevens Point, one of the biggest high schools in the state and with an enrollment of over 2,500 students, boasts a big kid returning to the mound for them this spring. He has played quarterback and safety for SPASH as a junior and senior, winning back-to-back Wisconsin Valley titles. Sexton is headed to the University of Minnesota next fall. A 4.0 student, he said he learned courage from his 20-year-old sister Miranda who fought cancer her junior year in high school. “She took everything in stride as she recovered from eventual surgery,” he said. “She truly is my biggest fan.”

Jamie Soyk, RHP: Abbotsford High School
Soyk helped lead the Falcons to the first Division IV state title, coached by his dad, Larry, and playing with his brother, Jordan, who will be the Falcons’ No. 2 pitcher this spring. A third-team all-state selection last year, he will lead a team that returns 65 percent of their at-bats but will depend on Soyk’s right arm to go deep into the playoffs.

Bryan Stoppenbach, RHP/3B: Burlington Catholic Central High School
Stoppenbach was named third-team all-state last year in baseball and the Midwest Classic Conference Player of the Year in both football and baseball.
