PRESS RELEASE – November 8, 2007 “Mr. Cub”, Ernie Banks, Featured Guest Speaker at the 2007 Buck O’Neil Professional Scouts & Coaches’ Association Inner-City Clinic The Buck O’Neil Professional Scouts & Coaches’ Association is a professional baseball organization that promotes the game of baseball worldwide. The Buck O’Neil Professional Scouts & Coaches’ Association was formed by a group of African-American Major League Baseball scouts in 1998. Since its inception, the Association has grown substantially in size as well as its stature in the professional baseball community. The role of the Association has changed through the years, from primarily supporting its members to sponsoring clinics and providing scholarships. November 8, 2007 – As part of the 8th Annual Buck O’Neil Professional Scouts & Coaches’ Association Conference, the 2007 Buck O’Neil Professional Scouts & Coaches’ Association Inner-City Clinic is scheduled to take place on November 10, 2007 at the Max-McCook Athletic & Exposition Center in McCook, Illinois (4750 S. Vernon Ave., McCook, IL). Selected high school baseball players from the city of Chicago and surrounding areas have been invited to this premiere inner city clinic. Over 25 professional scouts and coaches will serve as instructors for this unique event. Registration for the players will begin at 8:45 a.m. at the main entrance. Scheduled guest speakers include Mr. Cub, Ernie Banks, Steve Williams (Kansas City Royals), and long-time professional scout Fred Wright (Buck O’Neil Association). There will also be a Parents’ Forum at 9:30am and Coaches Clinic starting at 11AM. Players will begin stretching at 9:00 a.m. with the workout beginning at 9:30 a.m. The players will participate in several instructional stations, concluding around 1PM. This year's Buck O’Neil Professional Scouts & Coaches’ Association Inner City Clinic is presented by the Max-McCook Athletic & Exposition Center (the “MAX”), that has graciously agreed to host this great event.
